Kia ora!
Welcome to our preschool whānau! My name is Clare van Niekerk, and it’s a joy and privilege to introduce myself as part of this exciting new chapter for our Omokoroa community.
As a wife, mother of three, and a proud first-time grandmother, I understand the importance of creating a safe, nurturing environment where tamariki (children) can feel loved, valued, and inspired to discover and embrace their unique gifts. My passion for education has spanned over 35 years, beginning in Primary Teaching and later blossoming into Early Childhood Education—a shift inspired by my own journey as a parent.
I believe that every child is a taonga (treasure), and it’s our role to foster their unique strengths while guiding them with aroha (love) and care. At our centres, we work hand-in-hand with parents, caregivers, and whānau to build a strong foundation of trust and support for each tamaiti (child).
Outside of work, I cherish time with my family, including my husband, Rob, and extended family. Being a grandmother has added a whole new layer of joy to my life and reminds me daily of the beauty of childhood. Together, we love exploring the Bay of Plenty’s stunning outdoors through tramping, swimming, and enjoying all the natural wonders this community offers.
We can’t wait to welcome you and your tamariki into our preschool, where we’ll journey together in a spirit of connection, discovery, and growth.
Ngā mihi nui,
Clare van Niekerk
